Also known a ‘Bomb Weed’ or ‘Fire Weed’ on account that it is one of the first plants to colonise an area after a fire or destruction. Each of these plants contains up to 80,000 tiny parachute type seeds that can easily float on the wind, which makes it very effective coloniser.
A tall plant that can grow up to 1.5 metres tall, it flowers from June to September, it is a common sight along road sides and considered a symbol of rebirth.
In Russia this plant is used to make a herbal tea for its soothing properties against skin and breathing disorders.
