Sunday 12th March 2023 - Join us for a 5.5 mile guided walk on Bleaklow to visit 3 crash sites including the largest and most famous site of the Superfortress also known as ‘Over Exposed’. You will visit all 3 plane crash sites where our guide will explain the circumstances and history of each crash. We will also look at how the ‘Moors for the future’ scheme has regenerated these moorlands over the last few years and hopefully see some Mountain Hares and Short Eared Owls. After visiting the 3 sites we will drop down to Doctor’s Gate and return back to the cars via this old Roman Road looking at the history of this route.
The route has some steep hills, with some tough and boggy sections and the walk should take between 3 and 4 hours.
